Day 1 - London to Remagen
Your tour starts at our St Pancras Departure Office before the
journey to Brussels on the Eurostar. Here you continue to Cologne,
and join the local service to Remagen in the picturesque Rhine
Valley. After check-in at the 3* Hotel Pinger, you enjoy dinner in
the hotel tonight.
Day 2 - Koblenz Christmas Markets
This morning you take the train to Koblenz, an ancient city at
the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. You have free time
to explore this charming city, and of course, its Christmas market,
with over 100 glittering, cottage-style stalls set up in the heart
of the Old Town.
This afternoon, you take the train to Linz am Rhein, where you
are free to explore its delightful half-timbered buildings. After
time at Linz am Rhein's Christmas Market, join the Kasbach Valley
Railway. Traveling in historic carriages, the railway passes
through the Kasbach Valley, climbing 300 metres to the summit at
Kalenborn. After time to explore, take the Kasbach Valley Railway
back to Linz am Rhein.
Day 3 - Cologne’s Christmas Markets
This morning, you are free to explore Remagen before travelling
to Cologne. Here, you are free to enjoy the wonderfully festive
atmosphere of Christmastime in Cologne. The city is Europe's
unofficial Christmas market capital, boasting 7 individual
Christmas markets, each with its own unique character.
Festive chalets offer a special selection of gifts, decorations,
arts, and crafts as well as traditional stalls selling sausages,
waffles, wine, and beer. Perhaps make visits to the Maritime-themed
market, next to the Rhine and the city's Chocolate Museum. Or
explore the market in Roncalliplatz beneath the cathedral, which
has the biggest Christmas tree in the Rhineland.
Day 4 - Remagen to London
Today you bid Remagen farewell as you return to Cologne.
Continue to Brussels where you join the Eurostar to London St

Arrived too late in Remagen (see comment below) also didn't need to leave as early as we did in the last day. Trip was too short. A 5th day is needed. Because of train times the 4 day trip is really only a 2 day trip. We understand some later departures are done to accommodate people coming from further afield. However on a shirt 4 day trip you need to leave as soon as possible. Also we have been on many of your company's trips and anyone we've met from further afield have always come down the day befire anyway. They don't want to dare risk train delays so prefer getting to London the day before.

Rail Discoveries trips are always well organised and interesting.
The organisation was first class and even when there were problems with the return Eurostar journey everything was sorted out painlessly.
We visited four separate xmas markets 3 of them were very poor . The only excellent market was at Arwyler.
Hotel Pinger was excellent as per normal.
We feel we went a week too early as some of the markets didn’t appear to be fully finctioning
