Discover delightful Somerset on this superb holiday. Visit Brunel's SS Great Britain, admire the West Country's charming countryside on the UK's longest heritage railway, explore magnificent Bath and historic Wells.
The tour begins in Bristol where your Tour Manager meets you at The Bristol Hotel. After settling in, you are free to begin exploring this vibrant city ahead of dinner tonight.
Join the preserved West Somerset Railway for a steam-hauled journey from Bishop's Lydeard to Minehead, the longest heritage railway in the UK. Admire the enchanting scenery as the train steams past the rugged Quantock Hills towards the coast. On arrival, board a coach and travel through part of the dramatic Exmoor National Park, to 'England's smallest city' of Wells.
Discover Bristol's striking cultural attractions today. Embark on a guided tour of the SS Great Britain, Brunel's pioneering iron steam ship. Voted the second greatest Briton of all time, Brunel was one of the engineering giants of the 19th century, and the SS Great Britain is a fabulous testament to his genius. Explore the inner workings of this incredible vessel when it was in operation, and learn about the experiences the sailors would have encountered at sea. You are then at leisure in Bristol.
Travel by rail to Bath, a spectacular Georgian showpiece city and celebrated national treasure. Enjoy a guided tour of its famous sights, seeing Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge, the King's Circus and the emblematic Royal Crescent. You are free to explore at leisure. Perhaps learn about the city's Roman heritage with a visit to the renowned baths, or uncover the Jane Austen links in the Grand Pump Room and the beautiful Assembly Rooms.
After breakfast, the tour concludes, and you are free to depart at leisure.

A very enjoyable holiday experience. Excellent guide and a good, central, comfortable hotel.
Nice hotel in excellent area. We had upgraded our room to a river view which we did not get, however the room itself was excellent. staff helpful, food good. Our leader, Byron, was excellent. Constantly available, smart and affable, particularly spending time with the older members of the party. The trip on the train was most enjoyable, even in the scorching weather. The guided tour of bath was most informative and enjoyable. I would recommend (and have done so) this short trip to everyone.
Because I think they were good overall
Good holiday,guided tour's excellent,hotel good(although drinks expensive),Tour manager very good
Our holiday was based in a centrally located hotel in Bristol - rooms and hotel dining to a good standard and handy local restaurants to try on our free evenings. Advertised excursions were accompanied by the knowledgeable and efficient Tour Manager. Free time allowed most days to explore further.
Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.
Lovely hotel plus great excursions
Tour well organised and led. Never been to Bristol before and it was really interesting. Hotel was good if suffering from noisy revelry outside at the weekend - this was compensated for by wonderful attentive hotel staff who could not do enough for guests.
slight problem with the hotel. booked twin bedded room so beds had to be separated. bed not made or room entered on the first day, until its was made known to staff. Bristol hotel.
Rarely do I find that eveyrthing is excellent.
